Sirius Rising

Sirius Rising is a seven day festival at Brushwood Folklore Center in Sherman, New York. Beginning in 1994, the festival has been a community and family oriented event with varied workshops daily and one elemental themed workshop each day. Each night begins with elemental rituals honoring one of the five elements progressing through Air, Water, Fire, Earth and Spirit. There are musical performances nightly and drumming and dancing in the Roundhouse till dawn and beyond.

Guinness world record

During the years 2006 & 2007 two attempts were made at setting the Guinness World Record for most bodies painted. The record was made official after the 2007 attempt as part of the American Arts Body Festival with 264 people painted.

Merchants, Workshops and Musicians

There are many merchants who enhance the festival experience by bringing their own art and craft. Some of the workshops include wire wrapping, belly dancing, drumming, yoga, and body art. Past musical performances have included Peter Janson, Empty Hats, Telling Point, The Gypsy Nomads, The Mickeys, SONA, Elaine Silver, and Dragon Ritual Drummers.
